A $1.5 million call center will be developed in Shreveport that will create 600 new jobs, according to Gov. John Bel Edwards’ office.

Advanced Call Center Technologies will open for business in the East Ridge Plaza business center in March. President and CEO Hunter Croft committed to the investment Thursday, a statement from the governor’s office said.

The call center will result in another 314 indirect jobs, according to Louisiana Economic Development.

Call centers for ACT, based in Philadelphia, handle customer service support, fraud and dispute management, claim processing and other services to clients. The 25-year-old company has more than 10,000 employees across the U.S. and internationally, according to state officials.

A statement from the governor’s office said the Shreveport facility has room for up to 1,000 employees, but there was no indication if or when ACT would hire additional workers.

State incentives provided to ACT for bringing its call center to Shreveport included  a commitment of up to $500,000 in workforce training services and $500,000 for infrastructure costs and lease expenses that will be tied to projected hiring numbers.

The company is also expected to take part in the state’s Enterprise Zone program, which offers state income and franchise tax breaks. ACT is also negotiating over enticements with the City of Shreveport and the Caddo Parish Industrial Development Board.

Hiring for new positions will begin next month. The state did not provide information on the average salary being offered.

The jobs available include customer care specialists, quality analysts, training leaders, operations leadership and more. Those interested in applying can learn more here.
