Calcasieu Parish School Board partnering with local vaccine providers for teachers and school staff
The Calcasieu Parish School Board is partnering with local pharmacies and hospitals to get its local teachers, school staff and daycare staff vaccinated, the school board announced Monday.
According to a press release from the school board, “the district is currently partnered with the following providers to administer the vaccine:
- Boudreaux’s New Drug Store
- Prime Occupational Medicine
- Lake Charles Memorial Hospital
- Ochsner CHRISTUS Health Center – Lake Area”
“We are grateful for our community partners for joining us in this endeavor,” said Superintendent Karl Bruchhaus said in a statement. “As we’ve seen since the beginning of this pandemic, mitigating the spread of Coronavirus is truly a community effort. We are thankful that all of our faculty and staff are now eligible to receive the vaccine, and we’re pleased to be able to offer these opportunities to them quickly.”
Gov. John Bel Edwards announced last week that teachers and staff at K-12 schools and daycare facilities will be added to the list of people in Louisiana eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine starting this Monday.
“COVID-19 vaccinations are optional, not mandatory, for all CPSB employees,” according to the release.
